Braid App: Salon Employee Portal

 

Overview

I partnered with a Minneapolis-based salon and spa company to develop an employee portal. The team members can see their books, track goals, request time away and keep current on required product/training, all within one app. With an employee base of 250+ spread across HQ and three salon locations, I conducted interviews with HR, floor managers, team leads, and stylists to determine what app features would increase work day productivity.

Tools: Concepting, Branding, Wireframing, Persona Development, Data Visualization, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Priemier Pro & Adobe XD.

 
 
 

Personas

To address the user’s real needs, behaviors, motivations, demographics, life goals, and challenges we built 5 personas based on job roles, that produced a comprehensive understanding of the people who may use Braid.

The Process & Build

I conducted 20 employee interviews to establish user research and motivation categories. The 5 seperate user testing sessions played a vital role in determining the hierarchy of features within the app. Secondary stage was developing Braid for desktop and iPad.
